Airworthiness means the status of aircraft, engines, propellers or parts that must be in accordance with the approved design and instructions for continuing airworthiness. It is provided by certification and oversight of aircraft, and certification and oversight of organisations and individuals involved in the design, manufacture, continuing airworthiness and maintenance of aircraft. The scope of work of the Airworthiness Department includes the maintenance of the Aircraft Register, the initial and continuing airworthiness of aircraft, the design, manufacture and maintenance of aircraft as well as the licensing of aeronautical technical personnel.
