Engaged participants in SAR system - SAR Units

Provision of Article 62 of the Air Transport Law stipulates that ministries of defense, interior, and health, municipal authorities, cities, city of Belgrade and autonomous provinces, public enterprises and all natural and legal persons, able to help, must participate in the search for aircraft and rescue of persons.

The ways in which these parties are engaged in search and rescue are prescribed by the Government of the Republic of Serbia by way of the Regulation on the manner of engagement of participants in Search and Rescue operations in civil aviation ("Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia", No 93/15);

Article 2, paragraph 1 of this Regulation specifies that participants in search and rescue, which, depending on the circumstances, may be engaged in search and rescue operations at the request of the Rescue and Coordination Center (RCC) are:

1) Ministry of defense;

2) Ministry of interior;

3) Ministry of health;

4) Bodies of the autonomous province and the local self-government unit;

5) Companies and all natural and legal persons able to provide assistance;

6) Aero Clubs, Aeronautical Organizations and Aeronautical Associations;

7) Specialized rescue units;

8) Airport services:

(1) Rescue and firefighting department,

(2) First Medical Aid service

9) Air Navigation services Provider

10) International Cospas-Sarsat program – satellite-based search and rescue (SAR) distress alert detection and information distribution system for detecting emergency beacons of aircraft in distress and detecting positions in emergency cases and transmitting the information to CAD RCC
