Management boards of the Civil Aviation Directorate of the Republic of Serbia and Airport Nikola Tesla respectively has paid today the official visit to Ponikve Aerodrome in Uzice in order to make donations in airport equipment.
The Civil Aviation Directorate of the Republic of Serbia has allocated 8.81 million dinars, with the aim of raising the safety levels at this aerodrome, using it for testing the runway payload, for developing the project documentation for the main railings project, radio links, as well as implementing staff training.
Belgrade airport donated a motor vehicle Caddy Furgon with the aim of improving the operation, safety and security of this aerodrome, along with 10 hand-held radio stations, three mobile UHF radios, and two towers.
On this occasion, Ms Mirjana Cizmarov, the Director of Civil Aviation Directorate of the Republic of Serbia, said:
"Pursuant to the provisions of the Air Transport Act, the Civil Aviation Directorate of the Republic of Serbia, has allocated the above mentioned funds made available through passenger and cargo carriage fees and charges, originally intended to raise the level of safety in civil aviation.
Directorate will announce annual grant competition in 2015, for all aviation entities in the Republic of Serbia that will be able to submit their projects aiming to contribute to greater safety levels".
During the visit, Mr Sasa Vlaisavljević, acting Director General of Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport made the following statement:
"Nikola Tesla airport managed to break every record last year in almost every segment of its operations, while the continuing trend in air traffic growth demonstrates its first outcomes in 2015. I am glad to have the opportunity and ability to help our peers at all Serbian aerodromes. Cooperation with Uzice Ponikve aerodrome, dating from December last year, has continued to date by donating the relevant equipment. We also seek to continue cooperation with even more effort and intensity at all levels".
The next week, training for aircraft marshalling will begin at the Airport Nikola Tesla for the employees from Ponikve aerodrome. Belgrade airport is to donate to Ponikve aerodrome the used perimeter railing with a total length of 7,000 meters.

On 10 July 2025, the Civil Aviation Directorate of the Republic of Serbia donated 11 million dinars to the Joint Stock Company “Airports of Serbia” – Nis, with the aim of improving the security infrastructure and operational capacities of Nis Airport.
The funds will be used for the procurement of a high-resolution mobile X-ray scanner for screening unattended baggage, as well as for the acquisition of a simulator for the training of security screening operators.
The agreement was signed by the Director of the Civil Aviation Directorate, Ms. Mirjana Cizmarov, and the Director of Airports of Serbia, Mr. Mihajlo Zdravkovic.
The donation was granted based on a request submitted by Airports of Serbia, and the funds were allocated within the Directorate’s 2025 Financial Plan, previously approved by the Government of the Republic of Serbia.
This support is part of the Directorate’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the civil aviation security system in the Republic of Serbia through investment in technical capacities and personnel training.
On 5 July 2025, a practical skills standardization assessment of sailplane flight instructors – FI(S) – was conducted at Valjevo Airfield (LYVA), organized by the Civil Aviation Directorate of the Republic of Serbia.
The assessment was carried out under the Amendment to the Regulation on Sailplane Air Operations. The assessment was conducted by authorized examiners and inspectors of the Directorate.
The purpose of the standardization assessment was to support flight safety through consistent training practices and effective implementation of regulatory requirements. In addition to practical skill standardization assessments, the focus was also on sharing experiences, discussing new regulations, and current gliding regulatory requirements.
On 5 June 2025, in Belgrade, an Air Services Agreement was signed between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of Georgia, along with a supporting Memorandum of Understanding between the Civil Aviation Directorate of the Republic of Serbia and the Civil Aviation Agency of Georgia.
The Agreement and Memorandum were signed by Ms. Mirjana Cizmarov, Director of the Civil Aviation Directorate of the Republic of Serbia, and Mr. Givi Davitashvili, Director of the Civil Aviation Agency of Georgia, in the presence of Ms. Aleksandra Sofronijevic, Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Serbia.
The signed agreements establish the regulatory and operational conditions for initiating direct air service between Belgrade and Tbilisi as of 15 June 2025.
The Agreement between the two Governments defines the legal framework for the operation of scheduled international air services, while the Memorandum of Understanding enables direct cooperation between the two civil aviation authorities in technical, regulatory, and safety matters.
Through this Agreement, the Civil Aviation Directorate of Serbia continues to enhance international cooperation and contribute to improved air connectivity of the Republic of Serbia, in full compliance with international civil aviation standards and regulations.

Mirjana Čizmarov, Director of the Civil Aviation Directorate of the Republic of Serbia, met on 23 May in Belgrade with Edward Ferguson, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom.
During the meeting, they discussed the preparation and signing of a new Memorandum of Understanding, which will modernise and improve the existing Air Services Agreement signed in 1950.
This step represents a significant contribution to strengthening bilateral cooperation between Serbia and the United Kingdom in the field of civil aviation, aiming to align with current international standards and practices and to enhance air traffic between the two countries.
Director of the Civil Aviation Directorate of the Republic of Serbia, Mirjana Čizmarov, participated in the ICAO Facilitation Conference (FALC 2025), held from April 14 to 17, 2025, in Doha, Qatar. The event was organized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in collaboration with the Civil Aviation Authority of the State of Qatar.
FALC 2025 convened global civil aviation leaders to advance the implementation of Annex 9 — Facilitation of the Convention on International Civil Aviation. The conference focused on enhancing collaboration, efficiency, and inclusivity in air transport under the theme “Facilitating the Future of Air Transport.” It also commemorated the 75th anniversary of Annex 9 and ICAO’s 80th anniversary.
During her visit, Director Čizmarov met with His Excellency Mohamed Faleh Al-Hajri, Acting President of the Civil Aviation Authority of the State of Qatar. They discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation and the initiative to sign a Memorandum of Understanding in the field of civil aviation.
By participating in this high-level event, the Civil Aviation Directorate reaffirmed its commitment to continuously improving international standards in air transport facilitation.
