SES Certificate Granted

The Director General of the Civil Aviation Directorate of the Republic of Serbia (CAD RS), Mr Nebojsa Starcevic presented the certificate verifying compliance with the Single European Sky (SES) legislation to Mr Nikola Stankov Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Serbia and Montenegro Air Traffic Services Agency (SMATSA) Ltd.

The certificate applies to the following services provided by SMATSA: air navigation services (air traffic control, flight information and alerting services), communication, navigation and surveillance services; aviation information and weather services.

As a national supervisory body, the CAD RS is responsible for certification of the air navigation service provider i.e. SMATSA. For the purposes of certification the CAD RS conducted staff training and developed operation manuals in order to perform safety oversight, performed analysis of SMATSA operations documentation, and conducted inspections of locations where air navigation services are provided by SMATSA.

Certificate delivery ceremony at the premises of the CAD RS was also attended by the Director General of the Montenegro CAA, Mr Dragan Djurovic and Director General of the Bosnia and Herzegovina CAA, Mr Djordje Ratkovica.

SMATSA aligned its operations with the set of requirements arising from the SES regulations, which are related to: operating procedures, agreements on cooperation, safety management system, quality management and control, and human resources management.

The result of these two processes, which began in March 2009, is the certificate confirming compliance with the requirements arising from the SES legislation for the provision of services in the SMATSA area of responsibility i.e. the Republic of Serbia, the state of Montenegro, 55 percent of the Bosnia and Herzegovina upper airspace and a part over the international waters in the South Adriatic.
