Partnership for a Safe Airspace: Agreement Signed between Directorate and Republic Geodetic Authority

Ms Mirjana Čizmarov, Director of Civil Aviation Directorate of the Republic of Serbia, and Mr Borko Drašković, Director of the Republic Geodetic Authority signed a Business-Technical Cooperation Agreement on May 16, 2024. This agreement represents an important step towards improving the safety and efficiency of using unmanned aerial vehicles in Serbian airspace.

In response to the increasing use of unmanned aerial vehicles, the Civil Aviation Directorate and the Republic Geodetic Authority recognized the need to establish geographical zones and remote identification systems. This agreement will enable data on these zones to be available to airspace users in a unified and standardized digital format, with regular and systematic updates.

The agreement encompasses joint activities in developing and establishing expertise and technical cooperation, utilizing the existing expert and technical capacities of both parties, promoting social responsibility, and fostering multidisciplinary institutional cooperation. It also involves the enhancement and use of the digital platform of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) to develop software solutions supporting the new regulatory framework for the use of unmanned aerial vehicles in Serbia.

Activities related to this agreement will be coordinated by authorized representatives from both institutions, with specific rights and obligations stipulated in separate contracts. These contracts will include the working program, subjects, location, time, and scope of activities, financing methods, and participant responsibilities.
