Regional Conference on Women in Policing and Police Leadership: Challenges and Best Practices

Mirjana Cizmarov, the Director of the Civil Aviation Directorate of the Republic of Serbia, participated in the Regional Conference "Women in Policing and Police Leadership - Challenges and Best Practices" on the 13th of October 2023, held at the Palace of Serbia.

The conference, organized by the Women in Police Network of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia in collaboration with UN Women, aimed to facilitate the exchange of experiences and best practices at the regional and European levels regarding female leaders and their roles, as well as fostering cooperation and mutual support.

In addition to Director Cizmarov, the discussion on gender equality in predominantly male-dominated professions included some of the most successful women in this region, such as government ministers Jelena Tanaskovic and Maja Popović, Slavica Đukic Dejanovic, Darija Kisic, President of the Supreme Court Jasmina Vasovic, the Commissioner for the Protection of Equality Brankica Jankovic, Gordana Predic, Special Advisor to the Minister of Culture, and the head coach of the Serbian Women's National Basketball Team, Marina Maljkovic.

Gender equality is a crucial matter, and conferences such as this represent a significant step towards empowering women by showcasing examples of highly successful women who challenge all gender stereotypes regarding (un)permitted ambitions and business results.
