Serbian sporting airports and air clubs oversight intensified

The Civil Aviation Directorate of the Republic of Serbia has intensified safety oversight of sporting aerodromes and air clubs by way of introducing a more stringent overseeing measures by the safety inspectors teams, especially during regular flying days and on weekends.

As in previous years, the Civil Aviation Directorate commenced its intensive safety oversight of all entities, since the weather conditions are favorable, especially on weekends. Inspections are being carried out in close cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and the Serbia and Montenegro Air Traffic Services Agency.

Surveys and analysis of accidents in this aviation field indicate that accidents and incidents occure mainly at the beginning and end of the season, or in the spring and late autumn. According to a long-term analysis human factors have proven to be the main cause of accidents in sporting aviation. The crucial reason for this lies in non-compliance with the procedures prescribed by the Civil Aviation Directorate, being harmonized with the European standards.

The Civil Aviation Directorate has been commended by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for an efficient and well organized Serbian air space, and graded as the most productive and responsible aviation authority in the region.  Since Serbian air space has been managed accoring to the European standards and the safety requirements have been meat, the Directorate takes this oportunity to call all participants in the sports flying to strictly comply with these standards.

For achieving safety in sports flying it is necessary to comply with the relevant safety requirements by all stakeholders in civil aviation. Inspectors of the Civil Aviation Directorate of the Republic Serbia issued a statement saying that those not complying with the law and the prescribed procedures would most strictly be sanctioned in order to ensure aviation safety.
