REGIONAL CONFERENCE ON AERONAUTICAL SAR CROSS BORDER COOPERATION

The Civil Aviation Directorate of the Republic of Serbia organized a two-day Regional conference on aeronautical SAR cross border cooperation which was held from 27 to 29 September in Izvor Hotel, Arandjelovac, Serbia.
The aim of the Conference was to focus on the necessity and importance of the regional cross boarder search and rescue relations with a view to prompt and efficient provision of search activities following an aircraft accident. Establishing regional relations in this field is also a recommendation to be found in Annex 12 of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
The Conference is the first in the Region to be organized at such a level assembling all top aviation managers from the international aviation organizations such as ECAC, Eurocontrol, ITMCC, CSP including the representatives from the aviation/maritime authorities of Hungary, Croatia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, FYR of Macedonia, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovenia, UNMIK, and the representatives from the Serbian army and police forces.
Following the meeting, the Common Statement on regional aeronautical SAR cross border cooperation was signed by the representatives of the regional aviation authorities.
