Air Services Agreement Between Serbia and Australia Signed
Tuesday, 14.05.2013.
Air Services Agreement was signed between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of Australia. The agreement was signed by Milutin Mrkonjic, Minister of Transport of the Republic of Serbia and Her Excellency Helena Gay Studdert, Australian Ambassador to the Republic of Serbia.
The signing of the Air Services Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Government of Australia is an important step towards the development of relations in the field of civil aviation. The agreement is modern and liberal including the elements of the "open sky" agreement. The agreement will allow air carriers designated by the contracting parties to be given wider traffic rights.
In addition to traffic rights provided for certain air carriers of the Republic of Serbia and Australia, traffic rights are also provided for third countries through commercial cooperation. In accordance with the latest trends in bilateral relations in international civil aviation, this agreement for the first time addresses specific issues, such as intermodal transport, ground handling services and the use of slots.
By signing and through implementation of this agreement the possibility has opened for some air carriers of the Republic of Serbia to operate directly or via other countries (e.g. the United Arab Emirates, China, and New Zealand) to Australia.
